if you were to build a recirculating skimmer with a bubble plate what would be a better place to put the water feed. 1. towards the top of the skimmer so it acts as a counter current design. or 2. at the bottom so it does not disrupt the gentle current in the skimmer body created by the bubble plate. the head pressure would not mater because it would be equal in both options.
 
Agree w/ Poseidon. The counter current idea is contrary to the most hyped reason for a bubble plate -- that is, less turbulence. Placing the water feed at the bottom would allow it to possibly exit the skimmer w/o being recirculated, which means less efficiency.
 
How about neither.... I would put it on the PVC leading up to the intake of the pump.

I was thinking the same thing. the only down fall I saw with this is I was planing a tall skimmer. so the pump would have to overcome the pressure. so in turn I would need bigger pump. now if it was fed from a different source the size of the skimmer pump would not mater as much as long as it filled the tower with bubbles. no head pressure.

thats what I was thinking also. if the feed were high there would be sure contact time (no bypass). but it would mess up the idea of a bubble plate. hmmmm
