Anyone have a good outline for a diy skimmer or algae scrubber ? I need one for my diy sump on my 75 build. Any size recommended? All help is appreciated!

I realize this may not be the answer you’re looking to receive but I will recommend doing a quick Internet search. There are all kinds of DIY algae scrubber plans and some protein skimmer plans too. I built a DIY protein skimmer back in the mid 90’s. It was a recirculating skimmer that was 6 feet tall (7 feet with the collection cup). Thing was a beast and I gave it away with the tank when I sold the system. Probably wouldn’t fit in your DIY sump. ;)

No. There were no tutorials then, not to mention, YouTube hadn’t even been dreamt up!

With the price of todays used skimmers it’s not worth a diy lol.. I picked up a curve 5 for $40 and modded the pump and I got a top of the line skimmer for less than $80… algae scrubbers are cool I’ve built them also.. just finished this one up!

Do you have a 3D printer? If so, I can send you files for printing the parts needed for a skimmer.
