Hey Guys for my diy stand it’s 2x4 skeleton what’s the best thing to wrap it in.. plywood? MDF?

I've always used 1/4" or 1/2" oak or birch, stained it if I wantted to and put a couple coats of poly over it , either will work tho so I would go with what you like.

would a black outside and a white interior with the sump be cool looking

I've done a few stands using standard dimensional lumber. I've been going around the outside with pine tongue and groove boards 6" wide with the wanes coating side out. Makes a clean look. I actually started selling them to two local stores and build matching canopies as well. Attached are some pics.

Also painting the inside white is a great idea. Makes it so much easier and brighter under the stand. Make sure to use gloss gloss so it's easy to whipe up. I did this on my 180 display stand and love it. Hard to see in the picture because of the plastic, but you can see how bright it is with just the fugue light lol. Still need to build my face frame and doors out of oak. The skirting is purely personal taste and what's in your budget. I wouldn't use any sort of laminated, or press board near water. Only solid materials

I prefer to work w/ solid 1x, and material choice in that may vary as I try to match the decor of the home I'm building for.

Sometimes I do use ply, usually birch is my go to as that can be stained to match most anything, or painted.

I'm not crazy about working w/ MDF, especially for marine applications.

I used ply... I over did it weigh the 3/4" but I have large doors (one large removable panel up front and two full size doors on the sides)

Yea because the molding only came in pine and I didn't want to try too stain match (cognac stain with poly on top)

The hood is only 3/4"ply
