Hi all,

I’ve previously built a stand for my 29G using RocketEngineer’s plan but I’m just finishing a new stand for a planned 75G. However, the stand I built is about 2’x4’, appropriate dimensions for a standard 120G. I’ve used 2x4’s for the entire structure with 1/2” plywood for a base and top. I plan on skinning it with 1/2” plywood and adding a second 1/2” plywood topper to cover the top edges of the plywood after it’s skinned.

The lengthwise 2x4 on the top underside ensure the front and back of the 75 are supported directly underneath the frame of the tank (marineland with the black trim)

Would this stand be fine for a 120G if I went that route?

Also, I have a terribly uneven basement floor and the front left corner of off the floor. Is this too much to shim with those composite shims or would it be ok?

Are you making a new stand for the 120, or are the dimensions bthe same for the 120 and 75?
Probably okay regardless, but when i built mine for my 240 and 120, I used 2x6 for the top of the stand.
You can shim quite a bit as long as you shim frequently along the gap to level.

Would use the same stand. The footprint of the stand is for a 120. The extra bracing underneath is matched to the 75 that I’m likely to get. I’d really like a 90 flipped on its side to get the 2’x4’ footprint with less height.

The build is definitely sound, just make sure you shim all along the gap. More points of contact the better. Nice job! 👍
