So this whole thing started with a i bet i can do that moment. ( @Projects with Sam @Lost in the Sauce @NowGlazeIT i owe all of you a huge shout out for this and for all the knowledge you guys brought to it thank you all for everything!!!) I work at a glass facility and have always been fascinated with corals. The growth the colors the science behind growing the numbers with parameters just everything. I have always been a handyman and have seen all of these luxury builds and just the look of a well built tank but also all those amazing sump areas. So i got the bright idea one day at work well lets go Brandon (by the way my name is actually Brandon so it works lol)....anyways then came the research saw builds and tanks the process everything to make it go together without a leak or problem area. Finally it was my time i mocked up a cube had some trial and error with that and finally gor it the way i wanted.(this will be my ato tank for my 150g build ill be restoring this summer.)first set of pictures is the prep for the ato cube and finishing. When of the errors was placement of the tape. Not giving a wide enough channel for the interior seal to get a nice even look of the silicone in the corner once the glass was set. So after 3 days of cure cutting it all out and redoing it. I felt good with the way it turned out. Then on to the sump build as i was setting my 55g frag tank up and restoring it throughout this last summer.( It is finished and has corals and livestock as i type this it has been going great). So for the sump i went with a satin glass to help aid with light spill and any kind of algae that might grow in the sump to create a clean look from the outside looking in. I wanted a fuge area filter sock chamber and skimmer chamber as well as return. Wanted to make sure the bubble traps worked and that the levels would give plenty of siphon flow back to the sump when feeding or a power outage. The mock up and silicone for the chambers was a little difficult but doing it in stages was the perfect idea. One interior panel at a time( this was after coning the exterior panels and curing for a few days. After getting the panels in i had no idea what i was doing for plumbing but saw some awesome set ups on r2r and decided to try and mirror those builds taking from quite a few and using it all to my advantage to get it the way i felt show worthy. I was able to get some glass voss bottles and an awesome christmas present from my plant manager with a 4 pump auto doser(jebao dp4). Ordered some press connect bulk head fittings for the caps and the silicone tubing to match the interior of the sump section. If anyone has questions or anything please feel free to reach out. I am not a pro but did stumble through to a sucessful presentable sump area with a matching controller cabinet that is still in the process of being finished.(mounting amd getting the interior piece that will hold them. Let me know what yall think or any ideas that could make it even better.
