Hello, all

I am planning to build a 90 ish gallon fish tank with dimensions of 36" x 36" x 16". I am also wanting to make a simple/modern looking stand using the pretty common 2x4, 2x6, and plywood route. I wanted to see people opionion if I would be able to use supports only on the corners of the stand. If possible I would like to keep the stand as open as possible for ease of access. Please feel free to voice your opinions or any techniques that might help me get away with just using supports on the corners of the tank.

Thank You,
Cole

Cole,

I'd follow RocketEngineer's stand design. The design calls for 2x4's, but last time I built one without any center bracing over 3' I just moved to 2x6's- all of the stands are over engineered anyway, but a few bucks brought me a ton of peace of mind.

Here are pics of mine. Took solid pine 1/2” thick boards cut them to cover 2x4‘s burn them with a propane torch then wire brushed the black off. There is no stain I just washed with Murphy’s oil soap and water.

That turned out really nice, even with just 2 by 4s. Great idea!
