Stable bubble column with stable bubbles in the collection cup but too wet for you? Maybe your skimmer is too small.

Skimmate that is that wet is hardy pulling anything

My slightly undersized skimmer on a tank with exceptable parameters, that hasn’t had a water change in over 3 years. This is 4 days. Dark brown, almost black, and chunky
Haven’t touched my output valve on idk how long. Nice and steady

Lol really? If you are building a stable bubble column then you are definitely skimming waste looks like you need a bigger skimmer.

I run a little on the “wet” side to counteract the salinity increase from 2 part dosing. set it so about an extra 1/5 of a gallon a week is pulled out besides the just skimmate if i ran dry. I do have to empty more often this way though.

Can only see the top of bubble column for a day or so after the cup gets cleaned. Which is every week or so. After that the inside of the cup where the bubble column rises is covered with skimmate.

That's why I run it wet too.

You have no bubbles in the collection cup at all and you tell me I'm running wet.

Here is a picture of where my water level is set right now just to point out that it's not excessively high in the neck of the skimmer.

That BRS video is actually one of the more coherent explanations of skimmer sizing that I have seen. It’s a function of input, not gallons; just like ATS are sized based on daily cube-equivalents of food.

I’m at the point where many of my systems run nutrient low, like many others now where we need to dose nutrients. I’m really not too concerned with skimmer size, foam wet/dry or many other details because my fuge is so powerful with export I have to keep turning down the photo period. Imo select a decent skimmer in the brs recommenced size for your bioload and don’t worry about it. It’s not a huge deal.

Did you miss the part where I said that I just cleaned it? I was trying to show that I am not running my column way up the inside of the neck and my skimmer still produces a stable foam. But good example of your condescending attitude so maybe you proved my point.
