Do Homewreckers exist in the ocean?

Please forgive my ignorance, but do corals like homewreckers live in the wild? If not, how did they come to be?

They do. Only difference is that captive lighting changes their coloration. They don’t look like home wreckers. Guys like Jason Fox dive with actinic underwater flashlights to determine if a coral has “cooking” potential When collecting.

Tenuis like the Homewrecker look very similar on the farms to how it looks in a tank under white lighting. Very bright metallic green with bright yellowish/pink corallites.

I think a lot of hobbyists would be surprised to see how nice Acropora can look under the sun. If you're looking for the colors you can only see under blues with a filter you won't find them, but their true colors shine brighter than any tank lit corals.

Every coral in the hobby came from the ocean. No one is breeding corals and producing new genotypes, except for a very small number of restoration and research programs.

If they collected the whole colony of HW, it may no longer exist in the ocean. If they only collected part, its still out there somewhere...

Indeed!! That's definitely a rare specimen based on my snorkeling adventures, but colorful corals are definitely all from the ocean!

Yeah, usually after a significant other finds them messing around with the other significant other, then the homewrecker gets tossed in the ocean to sleep with the fishes...

HW was bought from a wholesaler when the A. Tenuis craze started to happen. It turned out to be a nice one. Even under daylight, it is a nice coral and is very colorful - it does not need trick lighting to look good like some A. Tenuis do.

These guys buy masses of wild stuff and hope that one hits. When they do, this one pays for all of it and the time/energy/money laid out for the turds... this is why they are several hundred dollars for a booger when they come out.
