Do I need a new PMUP

Hey all,

So I was a major slacker this past week and let my ATO run dry. Now when I go to reset the Neptune PMUP, I can hear the on off click but nothing happens. I made sure there was no air in it and made sure it was clogged. When I turn it on, the impeller moves about a quarter turn and doesn’t do anything else. Any suggestions or is time for a new one?

You can tell sometimes by observing the body of the pmup. It willl be swollen if it is damaged from running dry. Pmup v1 will run dry, v2 should shutoff.

So I know this sounds weird.. but give it a good smack.. I have done it with computer hard drives to pumps.. its like CPR.

Thanks for the responses. It is the V2 and it’s not swollen so I’ll try thumping it and see what happens lol

I’ve had v2 go out on me too…no swelling. The fact is these pmups just die…at least mine do. I get about 1/1.5 years out of them. And I keep 2nd one on hand. Not the most reliable things :(

I can also usually tell if they are going to die or not if I’m planning on leaving for vacation. I think they have some AI in them that makes them go out the night before you leave!
