Do i really need to remove hydroids?

Title says it all, have some colonial hydroids around the base of my leather, can't use aiptasia-f as they're on a ledge directly above my favia colony and I don't want to risk it. So do I really need to remove them or should they be fine? If not, how would i safely remove them? Thanks!
