Do RO/DI filters need the pressure regulator on the waste water from the membrane?

I just got a used Ro/DI filter and noticed my waste line from the membrane does not have a pressure regulator like my old system does.

Should I look into getting one of these for my new system or will I be okay without it?

The waistline from the membrane should have a restrictor on it like you show on your picture depending on the capacity of the membrane the restrictor should be matched accordingly.

Most of the systems have a restrictor inside the waste line and will not be visible

I did not see one on any of the tubes I got for the filter so I just went ahead and bought one rated for my membrane. Thanks for the help!
