A few weeks ago I had some red slime on the sand in a small section of my tank. It never really spread far and never became a problem. I would pick it out occasionally but it would always come back. Then one day I noticed my pincushion directly on top of it for a significant amount of time. Very shortly after this I left on a 2 week vacation. I have been back for almost a week and there is no sign of the stuff.

Any reports of urchins eating cyano or did the stuff just phase itself out?

Perhaps both...sometimes urchins seem very non-selective about what they eat, so maybe they did eat it....or maybe they were eating what the cyano was eating? Either way the result would be the same.

My urchin eats pretty much everything…

Everywhere it’s been on a rock is bare white calcium, coralline and all… that said, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they indiscriminately eat cyano along with everything else!
