Friends:
I reefed with my father in the early 2000s. We ordered live rock and cured it in water that was very salty. He told me that he did this to kill off any hitch hikers but preserve the bacteria. Some things survived but we never had any pest issues with that rock.
I can’t find any literature about this process. Anyone else do this? I’m thinking of using live rock again for the first time in my adult reefing career.
