I bought a few SPS at a frag show to grow a bit and later transfer to a new tank. However some started to encrust on the racks, the rocks are full of leather and the new tank is not yet wet.

I thought about turning online a 10gallon observation tank in order to move some of the larger leathers and glue the SPS frags to the rocks. Thinking it might be 3-4 months before the new tank can support SPS.

Thoughts?

I don't use racks but these corals encrust their base before they start vertical growth so they will be more difficult to remove from the rack for tank placement if they are firmly encrusted to it.

i would start to remove the plugs off the rack and re-glue on another plug to give yourself more time/room for them to grow while you get the other tank ready.
