Do you need the fans on an ATI fixture turned on while lights are off?

Just wondering if I need the fans on while the lights are turned off for the day? 8 bulb ATI fixture.

I dont turn on the fan even when the lights are on, and i have MH lights. The noise would drive me insane

No, the fans are for cooling bulbs when they are on. The fixture should be nice and quiet no noise when the lights are off.
