David McCullough is a great author for history, John Adams was a fantastic book and opened my eyes to what was really happening during that period, and How our current partisan politics was born.
Reading this now. Great book. My goal is to read one book about every US president.

@dirtycontour
I went thru that phase for a couple of years, His Majesty-G,Washington, T-REX Teddy R. are two notable books....The day I finished t-rex was on the anniversary of his death, talk about goose bumps!

Yikes!
I read Washington-His Excellency and I’m almost finished the Adams book. I have Jefferson and Madison waiting on my bookshelf

Hello All! I was going thru my tablet and discovered about 25 books I want to read or should have read by now. I would have finished all of these the moment they were released but since re-entering the hobby I only got around to a few. History, fiction, Bio's and current events, Even trade journals sit
for a week or two
My favorite Authors
Balduchi, Thor, Flinn, DeMille, Macullulf to name a few

I read just as much, just different. My total train commute to work is 90 minutes (45 each way). I am reading this forum or research more. I had been revisiting Tolkien before that (Silmarillion) and some deep Physics stuff just for fun.

I read Hobbit, then LOTR, then much later Silmarillion. It made sense in that order. The Silmarillion is probably my most read book after Faulkner’s Sound and the Fury.

It is rich and it took me a few reads to really get a handle on it. It was worth it. There is an entire mythology that explains how that world began before Middle Earth. It is also a bit piecemeal. Tolkien’s son Christopher put it together from his father’s writings because it was incredible and needed to be published.

I read quite a bit, but around the time I started my tanks I also started listening to audio books so I can listen while I work since it ate up a lot of time especially for the first couple months trying to figure everything out. Now I find myself more often reading, or listening, in front of the tank instead of watching TV. Which I'm perfectly fine with.

I also like fantasy epics and huge series with novellas, but I enjoy the occasional book on graph theory, physics, coding or books like Cosmos (Carl Sagan). Some of my favorites are:

Terry Goodkind's The Sword of Truth is quite good I've re-read that about 3 times. After Goodkind breaks with TOR Books his work really declines though.

Robert Jordan is by far one of my favorite authors. The Wheel of Time is a masterful epic for sure. I've read this series twice and recently finished listening to it for the first time on audio book read by two narrators that will ruin you on audio books, Kate Reading and Michael Kramer. Took me about 8 1/2 months to listen to the entire series at around I think I averaged 10 hrs/wk.

Brandon Sanderson (who finished Wheel of Time for Jordan after he died) writes some good books. He has two series, The Mistborn and The Stormlight Archives. Stormlight is pretty good sword and fantasy style book and he just released a 3rd book plus a novella out of 10 main books planned (I think). Mistborn seems to be pretty good too, only a little into the second book now though.

Paul S Kemp writes about 8 pretty good Forgotten Realms books.

Then of course there is the Dragonlance series, and most of its offshoots. Most of the books by Margaret Weiss & Tracy Hickman, Kevin Stein, Mary Kirchoff

I try to go through about 5-6 books a year (not including audio)
