Sooo funny!!
Truth is I do sometimes. I never hold my nose. I feel like it’s part of knowing your skimmer is working. The nastier the better. If it don’t stink, the skimmer is weak.
I will admit I chase the wife through out the house with it. She runs for the hills. It literally will clear a room when I am cleaning it.

skimmate can change smells and let you know something is off or changing in your tank. I smell it every time.

Kinda like looking at your poop...I bet most people do that too, and they should, cause it can warn you of bad things.

I have a hob and set it up to drain into a gallon jug. That thing is gnarly when it's full.

I try not to but sometimes that smell just jumps out at you. It’s good for clearing your sinuses

Before I decommissioned my skimmer, I never had a bad smelling skimmate. It smells earthy even with all those gunk in it.

Please don't judge me...but i think it has an earthy smell too and i kinda like it. And no i haven't tasted it!
But i use the KISS method, so maybe there is something to that.

This question is akin to cutting the cheese and testing the waters. Do you smell your skimmate before you dump it just to see how rank it is?

Thanks

I use mine as a broth, add shrimp and make a nice tasty fart-soup.

Yes.... Kind of like when I do a quick sniff after I fart in the car with my kids. It tells me whether I need to lock the windows or not... I want to make sure they have the chance to enjoy it as much as I do.... ;Woot

I like the smell of the fizz/foam right after you had just cleaned the cup. Its got a strange, sweet smell. I like ut because it reminds me of when i first got started.

lately, yes. It's only because it smells sweet. I don't know if there is something wrong with my skimmer. It didn't always smell this way.
It may not be the skimmer that's a little off
