Does anyone know how to file a missing Wrasse report?

How does a nearly fully grown Melanarus Wrasse go completely missing from a 5ft, 110Gal reef tank?
He's been in the tank less than a week. he (was) completely healthy, active and CURIOUS. the lid's been on, so no carpet surfing. I've poked around the rock work and looked under just about stone. There's NO trace of him. How could the largest fish in my tank simply disappear without a trace. I'd like to at least find the carcass of the poor dead soul.
I'm calling it a fish napping conspiracy; likely carried out by my clown fish.
Seriously how does this happen #jimmycrackcorn knows what I'm talking about.

I had a rhomboid wrasse vanish without a trace. Mesh screen, protected overflow, etc. Not a drop of water outside the tank or a hint of anything in the tank.

Alright, I'll wait him out or pull out my garden rake then. I didn't think the Melanurus was the burrowing type.

Yup, he's in the sand.
I had a baby red coris wrasse disappear only to find a REALLY FAT melanarus wrasse cruising about, only to stop eating and then kick the bucket. Fish autopsy revealed what I feared...melanarus wrasses can swallow another wrasse 1/3 its size and then die from eating it.

I'd hold off on raking the sand. He could hide for a few days or over a week. Just let it be and if he was eating he'll come out.

Yea mine also hid and only came out at night ... he also hid for several days.

Don’t disturb them. Just leave it be. If he shows up he shows up. If not I’m sure your tank can handle one fish death if it’s established. I’ve had fish die without removing the body and no Ill effect on my tank. I didn’t intentionally leave it of course. Randomly found it one day

Happy days!! He came out yesterday, as happy as could be. He just as curious as always and ready to eat EVERYTHING I drop in the tank. He ate 1/2 of a cocktail shrimp all by himself. All is well in the reef once more.

Ive had wrasses disappear and almost always resurface after a few days. Glad yours is out again and swimming

my flasher wrasse spent 2 weeks in the back of a nuvo 20. i found him in a filter sock that i had just changed out 4 days prior.

My pistol shrimp went missing after i redid my aquascape. I know for a fact he was in there when i put all the rocks back but no idea where he is. I see his friend all the time tho...
