Does everybody regret their sand sifting fish?

I love watching sand sifting fish, but I hate that they throw sand on corals etc.
I've had 2 previously, an Allen's sand sifter and maybe a diamond goby... First one got starved out, 2nd one I think got sick somehow and then the fish ate it.
