Does mounting SPS on it's side help it to grow faster/better?

I've wondered about this at times. I know when I've mounted coral on the side of my rock work, I get multiple new branches more quickly than when I mount it vertically (the traditional way). Is there any advantage to mounting SPS horizontally? I'm specifically thinking about when it gets placed on the rockwork rather than on a frag plug. Any input from the #SPSexperts is greatly appreciated.

Interesting. Looking forward to seeing what the stick fans say. Hoping to have some sps myself in the coming year so I’ll happily scoop up any insight I can in the meantime.

@o2manyfish did I read that you mount acros horizontally? I think I remember reading that somewhere?
