Does my Naso look healthy?

I purchased a Naso 5 days ago. He was eating fine at the LFS and had been there for 2 months. At the LFS he was eating pellets granted it was pretty much a sterile tank with no algae.
Ive brought him home cant seen to feed him mysis, pellets or flake, however he does eat nori on thr clip sometimes and is constantly grazing. Anything I should be worried about. Video below.

From the video I don’t see anything on the fish that says disease. If breathing is fine, I would say healthy fish. With that said the fish is on the skinny side for sure. You need to get nori and add selcon to it to get him fattened up.

Naso tangs can be finicky eaters at time. Keep adding nori if he does eat it. If your LFS has live brine, or black worms I would say try these two types of food.

Another suggestion is spectrum algae wafers. I add a couple of drops of selcon or vitachem to each wafer I intend on dropping into a tank. Wait a five/ten minutes to soak in, then addd to the tank.

Some say Easy Reef mastik stick on glass can possibly get some fish to eat more.

And lastly see if you can get some LRS Herbivore or Fish Frenzy. At times it can be hard to get this food, but if you can it’s a great one for frozen food.

Thanks a lot, I have brine shrimp eggs with me actually, so I could hatch them and try it out. Wouldn't they be too small for him though? I assumed because how big he is he would probably ignore them

The idea is to get him/her to go after other type of food too. Added a last mintues edit with one more version of food.

So here's the thing, im only left with Krill frozen at the moment and cyclops. Because of the conflict in our region airlines are refusing to ship in frozen food, so I cany get my usual mysis and artemia. LRS has never shipped to this region sadly regardless.

That being said there is a shop that sells the below but they've been expired since mid 2025. Is it safe to buy and feed? Theyre selling them almost a dollar a pack...

Yes you can feed expired food. But know that nutrition might not be as it once was when it was not expired.

This is not a proper diet for them and algae wafers are not ideal either. Some foods they require for fats and aminos are LRS Herbivore diet, plankton, Brine shrimp, Rods original diet, even bloodworms and chopped krill. Flakes will not fill them although they eat mainly algae flakes. The facts that its grazing indicated it will come around and feed yet

The fish looks fine -- nothing that you have fed it or not fed it over the last 5 days has caused a problem. Feed a balanced diet - doe large aquarium fish. I don't notice anything bad here. Baby brine shrimp are not a good idea. Just feed a balanced diet large enough for a large(r) fish

Again, the fish refuses to take any prepared food or frozen food pellets flakes. All he does is graze off the rocks all day. So how am I meant to feed a balanced diet?

He ate pellets at the shop but I assume because he didnt have a choice. Im only concerned if hes too skinny and the way hes eating won't sustain him

Its not uncommon for fish in new environments to not eat certain things at first. Just keep feeding and increase number of feedings. Just had 2 angels that came in that I know were eating well before they were shipped but for some reason they refused mysis the first couple of weeks and only ate pellets. After a few weeks they started attacking the mysis more and more aggressively. This is one of the reasons I highly believe in QT to also allow them to get back to eating aggressively before introducing to other fish.

Let him graze on the rocks. Obviously, you're not going to force feed it. Besides, unless you're watching the fish 24/7 (or when the lights are on constantly) you have no clue what's on the rocks that the fish is eating. Stop stressing on it. The fish is eating. It looks fine. (Note - I'm not saying that there is nothing wrong - just that nothing you're saying sounds like something is wrong.
