Beautiful clam! How long have you had it, and how often does it do this?
Thanks! Have had her about 7-8 months now I think.

Usually the more "open" she is, the more I see it like that. It's my first clam so idk much about them

Sorry more questions. What type of lighting are you running? If you aren't getting enough light to it, it could be slowly starved and your clam is now showing sings of gaping around the incurrent siphon. I also see that the center of the mantle has some signs of bleaching. Has it always looked like this?

Lighting is 4 36w t5, all ati bulbs in an ati sunpower paired with 6 nanobox reef led pucks. She is likely in around 250~ par or there abouts. And yeah, this is usually how she looks when shes fully open. it was also in the first couple hours of having the lighting on that this picture was taken so that could be as well.

I didnt realize clams could bleach even.. Ill try to find a picture of when i first got the clam and post and see if that helps.

You have plenty of light, and your tank looks healthy. I would say everything is fine from this last pic where the incurrent siphon is closed and the tentacles are showing. From the past pics it looks like the white spots are just a characteristic of your clam. Nice work!

Ill upload a picture tonight of how the tank currently looks! (Defo had some ups and downs since that last pic lol) but i was just making sure the clam was healthy at least. Turns out its the gills that i was reffering to in the first 2 pictures, didnt even know that the gills looked like that on a clam. lol Thanks for the help!
