He was my absolute fav in the tank until he turned suicidal and tried to clean the inside of my powerhead. Very, very sad day.

I've had them on and off over the years and never had an issue with ink. From by readings the Dolabella are not the variety of Sea Hares that ink the tank. In the past when they run out of algae they just "went missing" in the tanks. I recently have an issue with hair algae in one of my tanks and I remembered how the ones I've had in the past cleaned it up so I put two more in that tank last week. I usually only see them at night but they are constantly grazing algae.

This specific species doesn't!

I had no idea a completely safe version of these existed before @Tomoko Schum pointed it out.

Exactly! I remember seeing one eating hair algae and you could see it sucking the fibers into its mouth.

Sea hares are awesome but when you're out of algae they need to go to a new home. Mine ate all the algae in 2 weeks and I had a pasture of it.

Do these jello blobs of current surfing algae eating glory eat turf algae and Bryopsis or is it just the hair algaes?

They are known to be generalist algae eaters. They feed on a variety of algae such as hair and turf algae, but they also eat red, green, or brown macro algae such as Dictyota. They can be sustained on lettuce supposedly.

What is best for dealing with green film algaes? Or is it snails?

I think snails, such as Trochus or Turbo, would be good candidates.
