So question why are hobbiests fragging and tring to make their money back off of their first frag from what is now considered a colony they are taking the fun right out of it I mean come on guys and gals if pieces are so expensive we will not get more people into the hobby I think a lot of folks have forgotten what this hobby is all about I would never pay 1500 for a less than inch frag I don’t care what the name or where it came from it’s just ridiculous us old schoolers used to give away what is now called a colony and it’s what we called a frag just thinking what’s your outlook on this am I missing something?

I think you’re missing something. If there’s a market for something, people will try to capitalize on it. Just because you won’t pay for a frag doesn’t mean someone else won’t. If you’re concerned about prices, there are plenty of inexpensive corals out there that you can choose from.

p.s. Punctuation is a good thing.

I think a lot of it is just plain greed! While for a lot of us this is a fun hobby, Others are just trying to grow every penny they can get.
Welcome to America, land of opportunity.

I have definitely seen this. I'll go on OfferUp and see someone selling a nice frag and think, I'd pay $10 for that. Nope, asking like $300, whaaaaaaat........

I dont like to pay retail to a hobbyist! I just bought these 12 corals for $100 - TOTAL:
BC Aquaqtic Man Table, BC Sun God Prostrata, Vivids Sonic Boom, Red Millie, SC Orange Passion, BC Blue Ghost, BC Wonder Melon, CC Dark Knight, RC Poison Envy, BC Lemon Hammer, Ultimate Purple Monster, Pink w/yellow tip acro,

Plain greed sometimes. I had a local reefer buying a big Sunkist (3”+) with many bubbles from me for $150 and reselling on local forum for 350:)

it really saddens me to know that another local reefer got ripped off.

dang! Hook me up please lol

Want to put a little fear in some of the "hobbyists" trying to charge retail prices, just ask for a receipt and mention that you hope they're declaring this income on their taxes... LOL

We sell a lot of coral - CHEAP locally. I was the first out here to do a HomeWrecker for $100.
Never happen for the place I’m at- NY.

I get high end frags for a slightly more affordable price by splitting the cost with a local reefer. Basically if I get a $300 home wrecker, he pays me half and I promise to give him a same size frag when it grown haha.

That is so sad! If more reefers sold cheap, we could all afford nicer corals. It starts with you.

You sir are an amazing human being!
I don't know about that, I just lack greed. I will say, it does come back to me. So many local reefers just give me stuff (OG Bounce, Jawbreakers and a ton of nice coral) because they appreciate it.
Cheers! Mark
