Just venting... My brother (who is a self centered, prima donna, drama queen) and who is also almost 20 years older than I am, and should be an adult by now, called me this morning while I was feeding my invert/coral QT to cry again about how his wife doesn't appreciate him, how no one cares about him, and so on, and so forth.

When I saw where all that was going, I told him I'd call him back in fifteen minutes, when I was finished with what I was doing but, no, that wasn't an option, and he was just going to kill himself for the 967th time. So 45 minutes later, and already late for work, I rush out the door.

Came home a few minutes ago, to discover that I didn't turn the pumps back on before leaving. All the shrimp and snails are dead. Most of the coral, including my haul from @CherryCorals last weekend, looks dead. Water is basically milk, and stinks like crazy.

Just did a massive water change, massive bacteria infusion, massive doses of ammonia and nitrate neutralizers, but I'm sure that everything will be dead by morning. I can't put anything in the fish QT, because it's full of cupramine.

So yeah. I'm sorry Cherry Corals for killing your beautiful specimens, and I'm sorry to everyone else that wanted them besides me. What a colossal waste. :(

Not feeling so happy right now.

First I’m so sorry about your troubles. Suicide should never be taken lightly and I think you did the right thing.

I don’t fully understand your troubles; why address my ammonia and what issue happened with the tank and the pumps? Was your return pump off?

As someone who has a brother.. no offense but one day your brother might just kill himself.. but youll always have youre fish right ?

Sounds like you cant multitask. Ive been there before so i get it but yea.

I can multitask fine... Just not when dealing with an hour long meltdown from a 54 year old man-child, who's life is so sad when he lives in a $2 million dollar house, "works" 20 hours a week, and has had every whim and tantrum catered to his entire life, along with being told how special and precious he is, his entire life.

And guess what, he won't... You know who kills themselves? People who never say a word about it, to anyone, ever. Been there with others, unfortunately. Which makes it all the more atrocious that this is what he does, every time he wants some attention.

But yeah.

All that it just a day without the pumps on?

Yeah, it's just a little seven gallon Waterbox. I'm guessing everything starved for air, died, and then came the mess.

Yeah, I turned the pump and nano wavemaker off for feeding. It's just a little all in one I'm using for invert QT.

Sorry you're going through all this @Mike.P, I recently lost my pair of clowns and half my coral from the almost the same thing. Turned the pump off for a bit of late night feeding. Got distracted and totally forgot to turn it back on. Woke up 7 hours late to a tank full of dead fish and corals. Surprisingly I didn't lose any snails. Either way it's a hard loss, I hope you can push forward from here. :)

Thanks man! It'll be alright, not the end of the world... I just feel bad for the poor animals, that wasn't a good way for them to go, and they didn't deserve it.

I guess I just needed to vent for a sec, and share the cautionary tale for others' benefit.

Also I apologize, as it was in no way my intention to start drama over this.

I understand, it's pretty frustrating especially when you really care for the animals you're looking after. I don't care who you are, it hurts and the need to vent is normal.

BTW no drama here, people can judge all they want but they don't know you or your relationship with your brother and shouldn't really comment on an aspect of a situation they don't understand or have no real background knowledge of.

But yeah.

Your brother is so toxic he’s killing you slowly along with your tank. Cut him loose. He will never forgive you if you kill yourself and you can’t fix his problems by listening. He might have to deal with them if you’re not there to dump on. He won’t deal with them if you stick around to listen and support his habit of dumping on others. Don’t be that guy, it’s not good for you, it’s not good for him.

Had to tell you that, bud,

I’m sorry about the tank. Fix what you have control over and pray about the rest.

Somebody told me these same kind of things a long time ago and I didn’t listen then but wish Now I had.

Sorry about your brother and wish you all the best.

Hello,

Do to the sensitive subject matter @Mike.P i sent you a pm because it’s in more detail. But corals can be replaced and more then willing to frag some and you can have them.

Hi Sarah, I got your message... Thank you for the kind words, and your offer. That means a lot. You really don't have to do that though. I'll reply when I get back to a computer. Decided to go to the lake for some night fishing, and brushing up on some biochemistry textbooks to clear my head. My life is exciting, I know. lol

Dang man sorry to hear. You did well by listening like a good bro. You’ll recover your tank, hopefully with no more loss. This makes me what GHL WiFi controller / monitor even more.

Thanks man! I have an Apex for my main tank, that'll be the 100% ready to go once that thing is up and running. Just don't have anything like that for the QT's. I'm thinking of swapping to the Profilux as well, after reading more about it.

Sorry for your losses! Sucks losing your livestock but family trumps that easily in my opinion.

I think apex junior would serve you well .
My return pump and skimmer will shut off during feeding and turn back on in 10 min I can’t forget if I wanted too.

I left my rodi on so many times due to distractions. Flooded my laundry room at least 3 times. Now I have my holding water container in my laundry sink so that won’t happen again.
