i had thought that the dos doesnt need to be plugged into power thru an outlet, rather you can power them via the aquabus. i pulled the power plug, and kept the aquabus cable in, still get the 'orange' solild light, but it will not work when i push the prime button. am i doing something wrong?

also, it looks like there is air in the tubing, could this be the issue? shouldnt it still operate when i push those buttons?

There are two ways to run a DOS. Either with a power supply plugged into the wall for power and an aquabus cable for communication, or just a 1Link cable plugged into the EB832. The 1Link connection provides both power and data communication (thus the name 1Link.) You don't need either a separate power brick or the Aquabus cable when using the 1Link cable.

Also, getting no air bubbles in the lines can be tricky. It's important to push the tubing all the way up onto the connectors, screw the caps on tight, and then retighten the caps again a couple of days later. Some people swap the stock connectors out for John Guest type fittings. Also, if bubbles are coming from a connector leak at the pump, it will generally be the incoming hose connector that's the issue, not the outgoing one.

does that mean i need the 1link module too? not just a cable right?

If you have an EB832, there are 2 1Link ports built in. So you don't need a 1Link module unless those two ports are already in use or you have a different EB.
