My fish room is about 30 feet from the tank, however I need a DOS in my fish room for auto water change and my Apex near my tank for obvious reasons. How are people using their DOS for water change when their fish rooms aren’t near their tanks?

My DOS is the garage 30 feet away from my livingroom tank. I drilled through the wall to run a PVC conduit which contains 3 tubes (new saltwater, old saltwater, and RO/DI water) and a long AquaBus cable, so my DOS is mounted in the garage along with an FMM module for water level sensors and an EB4 to power my mixing station pump and a heater in my saltwater storage tank. The nice thing about keeping the DOS far from your tank is that its loud noise won't bother you in the living space during water changes.

I posted a lot of details about my mixing station setup in my build thread: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/suncrestreefs-red-sea-reefer-xl-425-build.358990/post-6173194

I run my DOS about 40’/12 metres for AWCs in my tank. I believe they are rated for a lot longer, head height is much more limiting than horizontal runs.

So that answers my question, where can you find an Aquabus cable that long?

Thanks, also just thought about this: I can just install the DOS by the apex near the tank, I’ve already run the 2 water lines from my future tank location to my fish room where the water changing station is. Don’t know why I didn’t think of that.
