Dos Gravity Siphon

I've seen mixed opinions on this just searching online. I'm setting up auto water changes from containers in my basement. I know the solution is probably just to not place the intake line that deep in the sump so it will break its own siphon, but will the Dos even allow a siphon to happen given that the rollers essentially pinch the tubing off? I saw a guy using and programming a neptune solenoid as a siphon break mechanism but wasn't sure it was even a possibility unless the concern is the uptake line falling off the Dos I guess, but then it's just a standard leak since the Dos isn't involved.

Slightly unrelated, can a Tunze Osmolator pump push water from a basement to the first floor? Thanks

There were a couple issues when they were first released, so Neptune tweaked the heads and I haven't heard of an issue since. It would be prudent to keep inlets shallow and keep air gaps on outlets to minimize the potential impact of an already unlikely siphon event.

This is the main reason I have not setup AWC on the DOS yet. I love the idea but at some point, you know it's going to siphon back! I was going to put the tube that takes water out of the tank literally a quarter of an inch under the water. If it suck air in now and again because of evaporation, I guess this would not matter?

You want to place the inlet deep enough that it won't suck in air. Mine are maybe 1/2" deep in my skimmer chamber so evaporation has no impact. The output, because my AWC goes from new>display>QT>waste, is about 1/2" above the water line so that nothing can go backward.

But if it does occasionally suck air, would this be such a problem? Is the concern that it won't prime again? My thought was that if it was sucking in air, the water is not that high.

The issue you'd run into is that it would cause your salinity to gradually shift. You want to ensure the intakes stay submerged. Mine has been running for about 4 years now and the only thing I've had to do is replace 2 roller heads.
