I took my 65g tank (approximately 55 to 60g water volume) and put it in a 75g tank in my new home. I’m not sure if the water volume in new tank, but it’s 10 to 20g more in volume (sump is larger too) so I expected my dosages to increase. But it’s been significantly more than I expected and I still haven’t found the right amount.
I was dosing around 21 or 22 ml of Red Sea liquid alkalinity a day in the old tank. I can get the tank up to around 8 and then a day later I’m back around 7.1 or 7.2. I keep raising the dosage (currently at 33 ml a day spread over 10 doses) and still having issues. I did recalibrate my pump, so the ml might not be completely comparable if the calibration was off before.
It seems that some is precipitating out. I am seeing ph spikes when I dose, but also see what’s shown in the video. I’m not sure why there doesn’t seem to be enough flow in the return chamber. I have a mighty jet XL set at 50% which should be around 1300gph. The calcium is around 415 so not too high. Any ideas?
