Dosing for all question

Good morning everyone! So I have a question. My doser for alkalinity ALWAYS leaves a build up of some sort of residue at the end of the tube where it goes into the water. So 1) what is that residue? 2) is there a way to stop this from happening? & 3) is this potentially leaving something behind that really should be going into the water? All my corals seem happy and are growing, it’s just a concern.

What it is depends, of course, on what product you are dosing, but it is very likely just dried additive. With kalkwasswer it is different, and may be reacting with CO2 in the air to form insoluble calcium carbonate.

Many folks, including me, run ATO water into the same tubing to flush it out.

Thank you Randy! What a great idea! For the record, I currently use Sea Chem Fusion for alkalinity as well as calcium.

Seachem Reef Fusion alk part is mostly sodium carbonate, and that would be what is drying onto the drip end.

Note that despite the claim by Seachem, this product is not properly designed for 1:1 dosing. As the google search AI states (perhaps correctly lol) it may have been specifically designed for that, but Seachem did not design it correctly. lol

Contrary to some assertions, Seachem Reef Fusion 1 and 2 are specifically designed to be used together in a 1:1 ratio to maintain calcium and alkalinity simultaneously.

Yeah, it most definitely is not 1:1! That produced WAY TOO MUCH calcium. It took me a bit to get them dialed in
