Do you guys feel like a 2 pump system is more than effective or is the 4 pumps recommended?

I ask because I know primarily its alk and calcium. So my question is dollar for dollar is a 2 pump more than enough and then add if need or if you can get the 4 pump do you recommend it assuming it won't be needed for a while. I'm extremely new to the hobby and barely breaking the surface of dosing. My tank is extremely stable and just running high on calcium so I added it's first few frags and am just considering being a step ahead and know changes are coming

i would get 4 now and bite the bullet because at some point you might want to add magnesium as it's also essential as calcium and alk, but it also depends on what 2 part you are dosing. Some just have the magnesium in the calcium bottle already, but maybe you might want to dose trace elements at some point or nopox if your nitrates ever get high or something bottoms out. Almost all dosers can also auto feed granted theres a fridge within reason of it. i use 2 of my dosers for feeding frozen food, one for dispensing food and one as a rinse, so I don't have to do it. Also depends on what doser you get. I don't recommend the Jebao ones, though! They suck and are always off the correct time for some reason

I always wish for more pumps. Even with All for reef, I can fill with microbacter7, phytochrom, or needed calcium, magnesium or alkalinity. I have Neptune DOS and love it. But my Kamoer F4 pros do their job.

It seems some people new to the hobby look forward to dosing for some reason. I bought a 4 head on sale a year ago and have never found a need for it. I have 6 tanks running and have a single reefdose 2 that doses AFR to my SPS tank and phyto to an NPS tank next to it. I manually dose the others. I dose phyto every hour 24/7 on the NPS tank so I need one for that tank but I used to manually dosed the SPS tank next to it.

Couple of the other tanks with no dosers.

This one gets AFR

Don't get me wrong, my goal is not to dose so if you were to ask me I hope I never have to use it. I'd much rather have an organic tank than something with additives... but with that being said this is more of a preliminary than anything thing.

Well I always say too much is better than not enough and is actually why I bought the 4 head that was on sale lol.
Kind of like horsepower and money in the bank. Just because you have it doesn't mean you have to use it but it sure is nice too have if it is needed.

Do you have any issues with the app and connectivity?

I have not used the 4 head doser but I have used kamoer F1 and X1 in the past and the app worked fine. I really like the reefbeat app that runs my RS reefdose. Nothing wrong with kamoer app I just found the reefbeat app more user friendly and offered a little more control. I had no connection issues with either but I'm on an old single 2.4ghz router so I don't have to deal with switching between 2.4 and 5ghz when using my apps dor the tanks.

I use a doser with 4 heads. At this time I only run 2 but have run 3 (phosphates) when needed. Nice to have 4 just in case.

I have the reefbeet working my lights, mat, and ato.. I think it's probably my favorite app I have used this far which has me leaning toward it. But I am skeptical still just because I feel like it's a bit nickel and dime for the product. Kamoer seems to have a great product review but a terrible support review and since I'm not a pro that leans me back toward it.

But I heard terrible feedback on mobius and I have 0 issues with the app. Not a fan but 0 issues....

I run 6 Kamoers for 2 part across 3 systems. I prefer single heads over multiple.
Simple app and easy to adjust.
These are on my 15g nano.

Do you prefer the singles solely on app function or is there a certain reason beside that?

Easier to keep singles as backups if one head dies I can replace it and be up and running in a few minutes.

Mobius can't even keep track of the correct date and time. This has been an issue for years and never addressed by ecotech. My radions are sitting on a shelf because I got sick of them turning on in the middle of the night. I only use it for powerheads now.
I had to go in a sync tanks yesterday because
Mobius decided it was 11/2 instead of 11/1 😡

EDIT: I love how it states the device clock is incorrect. Ecotech supports fix is to sync the app with the incorrect device clock 🤣

Yeah i didn't even go down that road with lights... I have my L2 running on it and that's all. And all it has to do is keep it running lol.

I took down my mp40 and have 2 4k's and to maxspect 350's on my hydros. I hear alot of crap about hydros too but it does just fine for me so I think at the end of the day it's all per person but I do like to hear everything to form my own idea.

Like I put a bunch of Gyre's on my tank cause it's a peninsula and thats what feedback I kept getting to do..... I personally am leaning toward not liking it lol

Is it pretty common for the heads to die?
Have not had one fail yet.
I also run 2 Kamoer peristaltic pump on my 150. One on the carx and one doses kalk 24/7.
Always have a backup.
After 1.5 years my sicci 3.0's impeller magnet split siezing up the pump yesterday. Had a backup and swapped it out in 30 minutes.
Does not matter what you run something will quit eventually.
