Dosing timers recommendations

What timers are people using/recommending for BRS dosing pump?

I got a cheep Chinese one that’s got an app/Alexa integration right now. But thinking about it, a 5$ timer could easily wipe out my tank and I want something more reliable.

My electrical stuff is currently in my sump (in the works of a controller cabinet) so I want something that can handle the humidity.

I run a single head brs dosing pump controlled by apex. Would recommend apex but before my apex I used a cheap timer as well checked it daily though.

“When used with controllers like the Apex, we recommend connecting these to a mechanical relay outlet, and not a TRIAC outlet on the controller's power bar.”

I’ve got an apex and could hook it up, but the instructions reccomend not hooking it up directly to the apex power bar. It seems like a better option to how I have it now, but not sure why the recommend against it.
