Is it possible with replacing my light with possibly a much better color spectrum light, has caused my coral to consume more Alk and Ca? I checked my dosing pumps and no issues there. With Alk in 3 days time between testing I've gone from 8.1dKh to 7.7dKh. And Ca has gone from 430ppm to 400ppm. It used to be pretty stable. Currently I'm dosing BRS 2 part of 52ml/day of Alk and 60ml/day of Ca. before my new lights I was dosing about 25/ml day of each. Each time I test I find myself increasing the dosing more and more. And after testing I correct the levels to Alk 8.1 and Ca to 430.

This is in a 29 gallon standard with about 20 volume of water in an SPS 90% dominant tank.

Yes, it is very possible. It is a sign that your coral will be growing much faster. ;)

I just feel it's an excessive amount that it went up. I went from using a Maxspect R420R 160watt 16k to a Maxspect RSX 150watt.

Growth go up , use go up.

It’s also quite possible the new Light has Better spectrum. Those are a lot more high tech then a razor.
