I'm on a 1000Mbps internet plan. I'm going from my modem to a switch then to an Orbi router. The Orbi has an option in the router software to run a speedtest which consistently gets around 900Mbps. My wired connection to the Orbi is only getting 270Mbps. If I plug the wired connection to the switch I get 900Mbps. Any ideas on what might be causing the Orbi to not let the wired connection get the full speed? I've gone thru all the options and I don't see anything that might effect the speed. I've googled the issue and most people that have the problem end up having a bad cable. I'm using the same cable when I try the direct connection to the modem vs the Orbi so i don't see how the cable could be my problem. I admit I don't know a lot about networking so I'm wondering if there is a setting on my network adapter on my PC that is limiting the speed.
