So doctor tims mentions to count the dry rock into the gallon calculation for gallons to doas amoniona, how to get that as this is my aqua scape there will be sand going into tank as well.

Just guestimate. It won't really matter. As long as you don't massively overdose, it will be fine.

For most of us, I don't think it's possible or practical to try to calculate the volume the rock and sand takes up; for most, it's an estimate at best.

But to cycle your tank with Dr. Tim's One and Only (I'm assuming you're using that) and his bottled ammonia chloride, you need a solid test kit for the ammonia. Many of us like the Hanna Checker for this, but whatever you use you need a good test kit to measure your ammonia. I wouldn't try to do it by just estimating the volume of rock and sand.
