Most people just opt for the larger size. It’s a healthy amount.
Sorry I meant to say rough size. Like an example of my local fish store will literally sell it on a frag plugs so I'm getting maybe three or four inch size pieces at Best. Also as a general question would you think it'd be possible to grow in a reactor tuned specifically towards this kind of macro refugium is the way to go? I would normally send a PM but I figure that's a decent general question. For my experience it grows and reactors just at a significantly slower rate than chaeto so perhaps a dedicated reactor. Hang on setting up a more refugium style tank and if I really wanted to get this stuff growing was wondering just in general if you had any recommendations

Oh randomly grabbed a handful. This is usually where I start off with for a double portion order and I usually grab more. This piece was loose and didn’t want to rip of another chunk to take a picture. It usually fills a ziplock bag when I ship it out. So you definitely are getting a deal compared to your LPS selling frag plugs

Going back to the reactor I can not say. I don’t have any experience running algae reactors just refugiums. For some reason in my tank I could never keep chaeto alive. Even with the correct parameters. This macro and cosmic broccoli are the only macros that I’ve had success with. This dragon breath grows like crazy. It could probably grow in a reactor, just no experience in that sector. My refugium just has a little power head mixing the section along with the flow of the sump. The algae doesn’t move around and just grows. Enough to keep it “swaying”

Thank you for the additional info. From years in the hobby I know stores that will have random macros just pop up on an annual basis that they never can truly ID so it's always interesting to hear your personal experience with it. I've seen similar macros also go by the same or different names as well so the photo is much appreciated
