drain/slimmer question

When i switched over to my bigger tank, I have noticed that Im not getting as much "nasty stuff" in my skim cup, and there is one thing I did notice that is a big difference between tanks.

I used larger pipe for the drain. It is draining into the skimmer section just like before, but it seems that there is a ton more water movement in the area where the skimmer is, could this be part of the reason why im not seeing as much junk in the skim cup?

When i say water movement, there are some serious bubbles in the skimmer section from the drain pipe, but the skimmer pump is on the opposite side of the section.

Could I have the drain water coming into fast and its not allowing the skimmer to do its job?

probably so man if there's enough air getting to the skimmer intake it could be slowing it down a bit might want to make a bubble catcher, maybe like put of a piece of acrylic with holes or slots in the top and bottom.

How long ago was the switch over. You may just not have as much since I'm sure you added a bunch of clean water

its been about a month, I did notice after posting this I moved the skimmer closer to the drain pipe, this way the intake for the skimmer pump is away from the glass and has more room, plus the skimmer body breaks up the flow from the drain.

The bubbles went from being big to being really small like they were before and I noticed it seem to be working better already.

So I think I might have answered my own question thru trial and error LOL
