Drain water level not high enough in sump

Hi All!!

I am at my wits end. I cannot for the life of me get the drain water level high enough in this sump to have flow go into the sock. It is always under that white sock holder by likely a 1/4 inch. I have the sump and return levels dialed in quite nice, however, no matter what I try I cannot get it raised up enough. It's a 35 gallon cube display with the eshopps Nano fuge. Any ideas what I can try? Will a ball valve on the drain make a difference? Currently its a free flow with a full syphon.

Slowing the return will raise the sump level.
 
Sorry, I can't really tell what the issue might be with your sump. But ther shouldn't be a path for water to bypass your sock. Even if your sock isn't there water should flow through the opening for the sock. Only when the sock is clogged water should be able to bypass it to prevent a flood.

I believe the way it is designed is the water is to drain into that first section and the water level should be high enough in that first chamber so the water level is high enough so it just drains into the sock. I am going to try to slow the the return down, however, usually that just raises the return and sump sections, not the first section.
 
Pretty sure I am just an idiot and bought a not strong enough return pump. Once I lowered my skimmer box and took in a lot more water, I easily got the water up. But the return pump is at 10 and not really pumping as much back as I need.

can you not just detach that corrugated pipe that fastens to the drain chamber and direct it over the filter socks?

I agree with this.
Where or how is the water not getting directed through the sock? Is there a bypass of some sort? There really should not be not until after the sock anyway in case of the sock becoming clogged.
