I am at the beginning stages of really considering a basement sump setup, below my tank room. This will give me easier access to my RODI supply, a utility sink, and more space for larger water volume, and room on the wall to organize my equipment better.

For a 300 gallon tank, what would be the ideal sump size?

Glass or acrylic?

Any suggestions are welcome.

How much basement square footage are you willing to commit to filtration equipment?

— I have a few unconventional ideas in mind that require a lot of space…

Like @UncommonSense said, depends on the space available. Here’s a buddies basement setup…and that’s not even half of it:

Myself I just received my new sump, a Deltec marinebox VF 145 in black and that’s the nicest looking sump I’ve seen in person.

It all depends on a multitude of factors, including individual taste.

Wish they were more readily available le stateside. I really like the idea of incorporating UV in the sump like the deltec do.

I guess I should have mentioned the amount of space I have available. Ideally less is better, but I can use as much as 12’x16’ of space and have it all contained within 1 room.
