Alright Reefers need some opinions.
I’m thinking about wanting to drill a 1 inch whole on my 75% water volume line.
In my mind I think the best way to do this is to then plum it into my sump and then as the water drains into my sump, connect my hose into the manifold and pump it all out and with a ball valve closed off to my return pump and basically reverse the process right back into my tank through the manifold.

I’m curious if anybody has any better ideas on doing something like this.
What do you guys think?

If your sump can allow you to remove enough water while the return pump is running, then yes.

I do this on my system. My sump is big enough to do a water change while my system is running. Just turn off the ATO and drain. I have a bulkhead that was once apart of a overflow, at the bottom of my sump. Its plumbed with a ball valve to my house drain in the basement.
