Has anyone ever done this. I am planning to get a 125 gallon this summer, and it has established rocks covered in coral but the scape is very low lying and not ideal. Would it be a bad idea to build a lattice work of dry rocks, or mortar pvc rocks then stack those rocks on holes in the lattice? there will be 2 sand gobies and probably a pistol/watchman pair so it has to be very very durable. I don’t really trust the reef epoxy stuff I tried it and it just kept detaching.

That's more or less what Paul B did with his rock scape.

I did similar with Aragocrete and made shelves and pillars.

Just remember to soak any that you make so it doesn't leach alkalinity.
