I found Marco rock to be a lot cheaper on Marine Depot. I'd wait for Black Friday sales personally. All kinds of fun things go on sale. Amazon has some that might work for you. It comes in really dusty. Take it to a car wash. It's cheap and would work great for a base.

I got all my dry rock from Amazon.
They had 40# boxes of CaribSea South Seas Base rock for $50 with free shipping.
Unfortunately, I just checked and its currently listed at out of stock..... I'd keep an eye on Amazon.

Fwiw, I give dry rock a soak in a mild citric acid solution. Then rinse with rodi a couple times, to help remove any residual phosphate from the rock surfaces, before use.
