I just got 10lbs of reef saver rock from BRS, they sent me one 10 pound rock that I want to break up. I know I can just go at it with a hammer and chisel but I wanted to know what would happen if I just dropped it on the concrete. Im thinking it would be easier but I am worried it might just shatter into a ton of unusable pieces. Thanks in advance

FWIW, I just broke some up with a hammer and chisel a few days ago. It worked really well. The breaks are a bit unpredictable, but it left me with the smaller pieces I wanted to glue together my scape, and some rubble for the filter section of my AIO.

i'd think hammer and chisel would give you more control. but i suppose if you don't care, dropping it for random shapes would work (if dropped with enough force or height). if doing this, be prepared to glue/epoxy pieces back together. good luck!
