Could this be a flow or lighting issue? I have really good water quality, I have 2 9w attinic strips and stock evo 13.5 light, hydor nano 240 and a 255gph pump with a spin stream nozzle

What are your water parameters? Also the stock fuval light isn’t really suitable for keeping a BTA long term imo, just putting that out there.

I'd say parameters issues given the algae going on. Also not sure of the lighting being used.

The stock fluval light should be okay for softies and some LPS, but who knows what kind of light the hammer and duncan were originally under. Could be a dramatic drop off in PAR that is making them unhappy.

I didn't mean to make it seam like they weren't good enough. Just that I don't know. I think it's a parameter issue or flow.

No I get it, I was just pointing out that they were okay. Personally I would never use them, that’s for sure, but *technically* they should be okay for some lps and softies, but like I said who knows. I think it would really depend on the individual coral to be honest.

Have 18 extra watts of attinic strips, my bta is doing great, and other corals such as a small birdsnest its just the euphila and duncan

What kind of actinic strips are they? A lot of them are just designed to make the coral tissue “pop” in color, or fluoresce. All I’m saying is that BTA demand high PAR, lots of light.

15ppm is a bit high, but it’s not alarming. Most people I would say aim for 5-10ppm, give or take. If the duncan and hammer came from a low nutrient system, it could be possible that they are irritated by the higher nitrates.

Okay, I did a 3.5 gall water change earlier so I'll test when I get home

That amount of nitrate is nothing to worry about. I keep mine between 10 and 20 on purpose. I'd be more concerned about alkalinity, calcium and magnesium.

Other than that moderate, INDIRECT flow.
