I bought a purple tip Duncan online an it opened nice the 1st day and looks healthy but it isnt the color i've seen other purple tip Duncans. Its more of a brown tip then a purple tip. So i was wondering how long does it take a Duncan to color up under perfect tank conditions? Will it color up, or is it just gunna stay the color it is now?

It may take some time but it may also be lighting. What type to you have? Duncans are pretty hardy but color nuances are generally a lighting issue. Under too much blue it cancels out blue pigment in corals. Leaving the brownish color. Too much white or par will not efflorescence the colors.

Maybe try 20k for awhile and see if it is more to your liking. The lower the k the better the growth. Higher less growth but better color. Most people prefer 15k to 20k. 8-10k is for great growth.
