Duncan Coral Looks Weird

Looking for advice or input on my duncan coral. It is almost like its stalk or base is encrusted in a hard substance. It has been this way for a while now, and have not seen much growth. Any idea what this may be? I only have a few other frags, and they seem to be all doing fine. Water parameters appear to be in check.

It's really hard to tell in the pic with all the blue lighting. Can you take a picture with your daylight/white lighting?

I am really not sure. Your base definitely looks different then mine. But I do not know if that is a problem or not. I will say the polyps don't look very full or extended.

Duncan corals can vary in both color and growth forms. How often are you feeding the polyps? Overall the coral doesn't look to be doing bad, remember that light and flow does make a world of difference for corals.

If I’m not mistaken I believe the hard substance you are referring to is the corals skeleton.
Ducan corals are LPS so have a skeletal base that the soft tissue heads come in and out of, unlike soft corals which have the typical “stalk” like you are referring to.

Yea, I havent been paying too much attention to it, but I want to say the stalk has definitely changed a bit since I first added it.

Duncan corals are big enough that they can take small pieces of shrimp in each head.

Sometimes the skeleton can have flesh on it, and that can change its color/texture.
