I bought some used equipment recently from someone who was in the process of taking their tank down and hadn't done much with it in a while. Anyway, only had 1 coral left, a duncan, and I took it thinking why not, see if I can get it back to health.

This is the first duncan I've had, and I've had it in the tank a few days. it's starting to look better, most of the heads are at least showing polyps now. but it's mostly skeleton with some heads on top. The skeleton broke and I've attached a few heads that broke off to frag plugs. Anyway, It looks like a bunch of gsp climbing the dead skeleton but I admittedly don't know much about these, pretty new to the hobby.
Thanks in advance!

That’s not a Duncan. Looks kinda like a frammer. And I believe that’s gsp on the skeleton.

Thanks! Gsp I had my suspicions, appreciate the frammer info. It had about a 4 inch skeleton with about 4 branches with a few heads each. I couldn't find a duncan anywhere that looked like it for obvious reasons

Lol.

Hammer, an Euphyllia.
Hey @Tahoe61 ! This might be a totally dumb question…I’ve been in this hobby for a while now. And I can’t seem to tell the difference between hammers, frammers, and frogspawns. I know they are all in the same family and very similar…but what’s the difference?

*sorry if that’s a dumb question.*

Hammers have rectangular polyps, and frogspawns look like Fat torches, with short, fatter and branching polyps, with little tips at the end
Can’t answer the frammer tho

Now even dumber question
what the heck is the difference between an octospawn and a frogspawn?

Not silly in the least. :)

The shape of the polyps.

Torch have long swaying tentacles like a torch.
Frogspawn literally looks like Frogspawn/eggs.
Hammers have blunt ends that appear square.
