Duncan issues

Trying to understand the issue. These Duncans have been through it in my tank. I nuked the tank, they survived. They’ve been plump and happy. Growing new heads regularly.

Suddenly the skeleton is bare.

The only change I’ve made recently is adding phos guard.

My unicorn tang has nipped at them every now and then but not enough to damage the heads. It’s almost like it enjoyed watching the heads recede.

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - .19
Calc - 526
Alk - 8.4
Phos - .63
Mag - 1745 (high)

I test with the Hanna Marine Master

Only use RO/DI. I have Phos guard and chemo pure blue. I have caulerpa in my stump which has helped clear the display up quite a bit.

I do dose all for reef but I have to order some more, currently out. Also use Red Sea AB+ twice a week.

Also have other Duncan’s that have remained closed the last week but the flesh is still in the skeleton.

I have had a duncan in my 200g tank for about 4 years and it's gone through a few phases - mostly due to flow issues when i moved it. It was doing great for a bit but then had to move some things around and found that it suffered and almost died due to too much direct flow. Moved it again and to a spot with less flow and it bounced back.

It is a decently high flow area but it was still open daily and beautiful.

Maybe try a lower flow area and also check ur settings on ur pumps to try and get short or long pulse vs constant flow and see how the Duncan responds

The power head is on an alternating setting with a long on short off.

The other (closed) Duncans aren’t in the same flow and are receded.
