Hi everyone,

I have this Duncan in my tank that I have had for about a month. It has been doing fine for the last month but a few days ago he stopped opening up.
I added a new AI Prime to the tank on low settings to try and ease the corals into it. Despite this the Duncan closed up anyways and hasn’t opened back up in 4 or 5 days. I moved it to a more shaded location yesterday to see if it would open but it has not. Also it has a layer of algae on it which may be a part of the problem. Any ideas and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The algae may be a big part of why it is so PO, you can try scrubbing the algae with a toothbrush to get it off. Looks like a fairly new tank, what are your params?

Ok I will try scrubbing. I am using an api test kit so the params may not be accurate. Ammonia: 0 Nitrite: 0 pH: 8.1 Nitrate 0.2 ppm Temp: 79 Salinity : 1.025

And yes it is somewhat new. I first set it up early November and I added Dr tims and ammonia which finished cycling mid December. I added 2 clowns early January and corals shortly after. I have since added a goby and shrimp as well as a new light that I mentioned.

As for the other corals, they are doing fine. However my rocks and sand are coated in reddish brown algae and I have to scrape the glass everyday to get rid of the algae on the glass. I have been adding microbacter clean to try and remedy the situation.
