Dying Meat Coral?

Great news! I was afraid for that little guy over the weekend. It looks very puffy and happy. If you do see it really sucked in again I’d still bet on the flame angel. If you are able to feed it with some liquid food like AB+ or something similar you should see some mesenterial filaments start to come out on the septa sticking out which is it growing around it. From my experience when you see the white filaments coming out the coral has the energy to heal. I notice my acanthos putting them out not long after eating if they have gotten bumped or something.

So I’ve been throwing in the reef ab with pumps on.

I do reef roids and benereef spot feeding once a week so maybe I’ll try that. Gotta keep the fishies away tho lol

I think it’s gonna make it!

1) so I’m not sure where the success comes from, the move behind the ledge? So less flow? I also turned down my Nero that potentially could’ve got it.

2) more likely/other option is the cloth I’m putting on my lid to shade the acantho. Do I dare remove the cloth?

I think it’s looking great! My experience with the acanthos and light is mostly they will adjust to the higher lighting. The only time I have had them not like it is if they were stressed by chemical warfare ( I had one right by a doughboy mushroom that bleached after getting moved). Although, if you are going to make the change it would be prudent to do it over a week or two.

I did just lose an acantho and my others were not inflating nearly as much and it turned out that the flow was just not enough for them. After turning my gyre way up they are all inflating much more so, although they like “lower” flow I’m not sure that is universally true. You can tell if the flow isn’t right as the tissue will be pinned to the skeleton which just looks uncomfortable.

Glad it’s doing well, it certainly is beautiful. Is the flame angle still in the tank and playing nice now?

Seems he’s not messing with it !

Might move the shade cloth off now.

Well. I went on vacation for 10 days and had various people come by for feeding.

My light shade got moved, the skimmer was overflowing BUT

Check this sucker out, I might even have to move him forward or move the rock work to its left further left.
